The Guest Book is expired.
Aug. 18, 1929-Dec. 8, 2012
John Husu, 83, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on December 8. An avid hunter and sportsman, John was retired since 1990 from his 33 years at Prudential Insurance, where he served as a Sales Manager. John's retirement was short lived and he re-retired again in 1995 after owning and operating Spectrum Signs for three years. John was proud of his Finnish heritage and his humble beginnings in Cloquet, Minnesota, where he met Joyce, his wife and best friend of 60 years.
John attended the University of Minnesota--Duluth and later entered the U.S. Navy in 1949. He especially enjoyed spending time at his "hunting shack" and was able to enjoy a week in the woods deer hunting, just two weeks prior to his death. Friends described John as a quick-witted joke teller with a sharp and inquiring mind. He loved to read, watch movies, and attend sporting events.
John is preceded in death by his mother and father Mary and Anton Husu, his sister Thelma, and brother, Arnold. John is survived by daughters Deborah Hopp (Christopher Dahl) and Kathleen Husu, son Corey Husu (Karen), grandchildren Alyson and Jonathon Husu, and Leslie and Deven Hopp, brother in-law Dale (Ruth) Thorpe, nephew John Pehkonen (Bev), and niece's Mary Tessier(Gary) and Jean Schunck (Chris).
Visitation will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, on Wednesday, December 12 at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. and a reception to celebrate John's life at Anton's Restaurant in Waite Park from 3:30 p.m.-6:30 pm. Private burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Thursday. Memorials preferred to Parkinson's Research Foundation or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
