Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell for Louis J. Rassier, age 85, who passed away Sunday at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Rev. Greg Lieser will officiate and burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church in Sartell. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.
Louis John Rassier was born in St. Joseph, MN, to Bernard and Clara (Braun) Rassier, on Nov. 12, 1927. He attended St. John's and served in the U.S. Navy for six years. On Jan. 6, 1973, he was united in marriage to Emma Sufka Wingen at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell. Louis retired from the St. Cloud Hospital on Jan. 1, 1990, where he worked as Power Plant Manager. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the City of St. Joseph for many years. He was a past commander and member of St. Joseph VFW Post #5773, life member of St. Cloud East Side VFW Post #4847, and a member of Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254. Louis enjoyed fishing and Christmas was a very special time to him.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Emma of Sartell; step-daughters, Kathy Wingen of St. Cloud and Karen Raatz (Ralph Kraemer) of St. Cloud; brother, Robert (Rita) Rassier of St. Joseph; step grandsons, Travis (Kathy) Raatz, Michael (Lisa) Anderson, and Robert (Carrie) Anderson; 7 step great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Renee and Norbert Feld; step-daughter, Diane Anderson on April 3, 2013; and step granddaughter, Shelly Freeman.
The family expresses their thanks to the staff at VA Building 49, Floor 1, for their kindness and wonderful care of Louie's final days.
