Loving husband, father and captain of the sailing vessel Solmate, passed away suddenly on June 5, 2013. Visitation one hour prior to Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 11, Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
Paul grew up in St. Cloud MN, played hockey at St. Cloud Tech (class of '81), was a member of the Powder Ridge Ski Racing Team, graduated from Lake Forest College in Illinois and earned a law degree from the University of Minnesota. He practiced patent law for the University of Minnesota, Medtronic and St. Jude Medical. He also was a past president of the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association. He loved his family and friends and especially loved being surrounded by both on his sailboat on Lake Pepin.
Preceded in death by father, George McDowall; brother, Steven McDowall; father-in-law John McDonough and sister-in-law Molly Stewart.
Survived by his wife of 23 years, Maureen and sons, Miles (17) and George (15); mother, Betty, brothers, Patrick, John (Cherie), Peter, and Larry (Sue Kenowski), all of St. Cloud, David (Katherine), Shoreview; sister, Mary (Kevin Patty), Arden Hills; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
