Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church for Raymond C. Ebertowski, 88, of St. Cloud, who died November 2, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. The Reverend Mark Innocenti will officiate. Burial, with Military Honors provided by the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428, will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday (TODAY) at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:45 PM, and the Waite Park American Legion Post #428 will pray at 6:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Ray was born on December 12, 1924, in Little Falls to Leo and Rose (Kowalzck) Ebertowski. He married Leola Hansmann on July 18, 1945, in St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup. They moved to St. Cloud in 1949. Ray received the Bronze Star for his service in the US Army during World War II. Ray worked for Gamble-Skogmo for many years, and completed his career as an Army Recruiter. After his retirement he was the General Manager of the Waite Park Legion for 10 years. Ray was a member of St. Michael's Parish, VFW Post #428, the Moose Lodge, and was a past Commander of the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428.
Ray is survived by: daughter Darlene (Chuck) Rau of Rice, son David (Mary Jo) of St. Paul; grandchildren: Jay, Jenny, Michael, Leslie, Cassie, Kyle; great-grandchildren: Megan, Katie, Kristen; sisters Lucy, Rosemary, brother Alex; son-in-law Gene Pawlu of Pierz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leola, daughter LaJean Pawlu, and brother Louie.
