Memorial Services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for Raymond F. Doering, age 93, who passed away Sunday at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Rev. Al Stangl will officiate. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls at a later date. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.
Raymond was born Feb. 23, 1920 in Palmer Township (Sherburne County) to Fred A. & Helen (Schmidt) Doering. He served his country in the U.S. Army in WW II with the 41st Infantry Division in the Pacific Theatre. Raymond married Clarice Howard on Aug. 30, 1946 in Clear Lake and they were later divorced. He lived in the Clear Lake area most of his life. Raymond worked as an electrician at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center and also owned and operated Doering Electric. He also farmed and repaired and restored automobiles. He was a member of the Clear Lake American Legion Post #354 and Monticello VFW Post #8731. Raymond enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, antiques, flea markets, and finding bargains. He was a hardworking, generous, humble, quiet, self-educated man who could fix anything.
Survivors include his children, Lucille (Kenneth) Hemmelgarn of Elk River, Gary (Diane) of Clear Lake, Neale (Laure) of South Haven, Jack (Tammy) of Vining, Kevin (Mary) of Cold Spring, Charles (Sue Lynn) of Clearwater, Janna (Norm Olson) of Elk River, and Noelle of St. Cloud; step-children, Gene (Carolyn) Hartmann of Ft. Myers, FL, Robert (Trude) Hartmann of Clear Lake, and Judy (Clair) Grandy of Becker; significant other, Nancy Stigaard of St. Cloud; brothers and sister, Fred E. Doering of St. Cloud, Kenneth Doering of Palmer, and Joyce (Jim) Schockweiler of Sartell; 30 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Florence Gleason, Walt Doering, Edna Arnold, Mildred "Mid" Skogen, and Don Doering.
