Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Richard J. Nahan, 79, of St. Cloud will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Richard passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud with family by his side. Reverend Alfred Stangl will officiate. Entombment with military honors will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Cloud.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Richard was born on August 28, 1934 in St. Cloud to the late James and Florence (Schepers) Nahan. After graduating from Cathedral High School he served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955. He graduated from Northwestern Television and Electronics Institute in 1957. Richard married Ursula S. Kolb on September 9, 1961 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in St. Martin. He was employed at the VA Medical Center until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul's Parish.
Richard enjoyed tinkering with motors, bicycles and lawnmowers. He will be fondly remembered for his famous pancake breakfasts for family and friends.
Richard is survived by his sons, Shawn (Shelly) of Chaska and Brian (Amy) of Sartell; four grandchildren, Kaia, Gavin, Cody and Riley; brother, James Nahan; sisters, Betty (Art) Warren, Margie (Ollie) Lesnick, Rosie (Mel) Lovitz and Emmalou (Herb) Torborg; and sisters-in-law, Valerie (Herbert) Hoppe, Theresa Kolb and Sheila Nahan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ursula on February 21, 2010; brother, Thomas Nahan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer, John, and Dorothy Kolb and Helen Nahan.
