Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at St. Mary's Cathedral Upper Church for Vernon G. Feichtinger, age 82 of St. Cloud who passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Reverend Anthony Oelrich will officiate. Entombment will take place with military honors at the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum.

Family and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Arrangements were made by the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Vernon was born on April 8, 1931 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Gustave and Gladys (Page) Feichtinger. He attended Cathedral High School. Vernon served in the U.S Navy from 1951 until 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He served on the USS Randolph in the Mediterranean and the USS Palau in the Pacific. He married Lucille Nied on May 25, 1957 at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. Vernon was employed as a Carman for the Great Northern and the Burlington Northern Railroads for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish, St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428, Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622 and the National Association of Retired Veteran Railway Employees.

Vernon was a very active man; he enjoyed many years of fishing and was an avid reader.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Lucille; sisters and brother, Frances Fitzpatrick of Sauk Rapids, Robert (Elaine) Feichtinger of Willmar and Doreen Eiynck of Coon Rapids, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; sister, Genevieve Feichtinger and brother, Berdell "Bert" Feichtinger.
