Barbara Brooks Copple
Died Monday, April 21 in her San Jose home. Born in Loogootee, Indiana in 1919, Barbara received her B.A from Depauw University in 1941. Barbara married Jack H. Copple in 1943, moving to San Jose in 1945. They raised seven children born within nine years while Jack built his career as a San Jose developer, businessman, and civic leader. They were together until Jack died in 1994. Barbara was active in many volunteer organizations. Though she lived in California most of her life, she always considered herself a Hoosier.
Barbara is survived by her children Cynthia Copple (Santa Cruz), Alice Copple Tosic (Serbia), Jackie Copple (Menlo Park), Jim Copple (Mary Ann) (San Jose), Betsy Copple Zimmerman (John) (Colorado), Julia Copple Davenport (Steve) (Santa Cruz), 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by husband Jack Copple, daughter Peg Copple, and great-granddaughter Scarlett Mehring.
