Barbara was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to Marin in 1955.

She was a graduate of Balboa High School and San Francisco State where she was proud to be the Vice President of the student body and Vice President of the Alpha Omega Sorority. At State she was an ardent tennis player and synchronized swimmer. She remained close to her high school and college friends throughout her life.

She taught in San Francisco for 5 years and then moved to Kentfield, where she taught elementary school at Isabel Cook and Wade Thomas in San Anselmo for over 30 years until she retired. She took great joy in knowing her students and their families and kept in touch with them throughout the years.

She was an active member of the Balboa High School Alumni, San Francisco State Alumni, Alpha Omega Sorority, California Retired Teachers Association, Goldenaires, and the Ladies of the Elks Lodge #1108. Barbara leaves behind her loving husband, Bernard "Beany" Wise, her daughter Gail Piro (Jerry),her step sons Robert Wise (Lesley), Larry Romaneck (Marti), grandchildren Steve, Marc and Pamela Piro,Lisa and Jenna Wise,Olivia Biro (Zsolt), Monique Villagran, Tiffany Donohue (Richard), Renee Romaneck and loving nieces. She told us daily how much she cherished her family.

She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Caroline Tehaney and her brother Ronald Tehaney.

She will be especially missed by her sister-in-law, Pat Tehaney, her two best friends, Barbara Thurston and Barbara Campbell, in college they were known as the three "B's." She had many close friends in which she valued and cherished. A group of life long friends from her school days known as "Club" has met monthly for the last 61 years. She had a heart of gold and was very thoughtful. She never forgot to send a birthday card.She never missed a good party, reunion, lunch with friends or social occasion.

A private family service was held previously. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 on June 9, 2013 at Deer Park Villa, 367 Bolinas Rd. Fairfax, Ca..
