Bruce K. Hamilton

Bruce K. Hamilton, 87, of San Bruno, California, passed away peacefully at his home on July 11, 2013.


Born January 14, 1926 in Jackson, Michigan to the late John and Jean Hamilton, he lived most of his life in Pacifica and San Bruno, California. He is survived by his son and, daughter-in-law, Bruce J. and Ronda Hamilton of Pacifica, California; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Ana Auerbach of Hayward, California; daughter, Sandi Melendez of Sparks, Nevada; grandchildren, Kimberly (Einar) Skrinde; Bruce R. Hamilton; Brian Auerbach; Brandon (Jessica) Hamilton; Jason Melendez; and Erica Hamilton; great grandchildren, Ian, Noah and Meagan Skrinde; sister, Rosemary Smith; and nephews, Richard, Gary and Peter Smith.


Bruce was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Betty.


Bruce played football in high school which garnered him the nickname "Biff Bang Hamilton", was a graduate of Western Michigan University, and a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII in the North Apennine Mountains of Italy with the 10th Mountain Division. He was the recipient of several military honors and medals. Bruce was a salesman, retired from Champion International Corporation and Higgins Lumber Company. He was a life member of the South End Rowing Club in San Francisco where he was an avid handball player.


Bruce was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed good friends, good food, good wine and, of course, good martinis.


Services will be held at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City, CA on Thursday, July 18th, beginning at 11am.
