David Joseph Clark
David Clark passed away peacefully at home in El Cerrito on May 1st. He was born in Santa Monica, California on May 11, 1931 to Donald E. and Hortense N. Clark. He graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1949 and received a degree in Physics from Caltech in 1953. He began graduate work at UCLA, then spent 2 years in Japan with the Army before returning to complete his Masters and PhD degrees in Physics. He worked for 2 years at Rutherford Laboratory in Oxfordshire, England before spending the rest of his career at the 88-inch Cyclotron at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory with a year's sabbatical at Michigan State University in 1980-81.
Dave is survivied by his wife Lanice whom he married in 1956; son Christopher (Susan) and grandchildren Wendy and Andrew of Saratoga; and daughter Laura Reinbold (Jay) of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Dave is remembered as a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. The family fondly called him "Dr. Science" due to his skill at answering questions.
