Donald Alden Rudee, D.D.S., M.S.D.
January 1, 1920 - June 14, 2013
Peacefully on June 14, 2013 at the age of 93. Don was born on January 1, 1920 in San Francisco, California to Dr. and Mrs. Henry Rudee and was the younger brother of Dr. William Rudee (Santa Rosa, CA) and Dr. Lynn Rudee (Napa, CA) - all deceased.
Don attended Polytechnic High School in San Francisco and continued on to UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco where he received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees.
In 1943, Don was commissioned as an Officer with the U.S. Navy, attached to the U.S. Marines where he served in the Pacific until the end of the war.
Don returned to Palo Alto, California where he practiced General Dentistry for 10 years. In 1953, he traveled to the Pacific Northwest to the University of Washington where he received his M.S.D. in Orthodontics and practiced orthodontics in Palo Alto for the next 30 years.
Don was a proud member of the following associations: American Dental Association, American College of Dentists, American Association of Orthodontics, California Association of Orthodontics, Mid-Peninsula Dental Society, Peninsula Orthodontic Research Group, Palo Alto Ski Club and Life Member of the Sierra Club.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joyce, his daughter Tamis, son Tod, and 4 grandchildren.
A celebration of Don's life is being planned for a later date.
