Longtime Bay Area television news anchor Doug Murphy died in a fire in his Lafayette home Sunday night.

Murphy, 53, was the father of two young children.

Murphy did sports and weather at KPIX, and most recently served as weekend anchor.

Murphy won an Emmy for the Bay to Breakers coverage and several awards from the Associated Press and other media organizations. He began his career at WOSU radio at Ohio State University doing color commentary for Ohio games. He received his Bachelor's Degree in 1975 from Ohio State University.
