She began her life as Edythe Margaret Pizio in Antioch California on August 26, 1918. Her parents, Rosa and Joe, ran a boarding house near the river for men who worked on the farms in the delta. She completed high school in Antioch and went off to San Jose State where she earned her bachelor's degree and became a high school teacher in Manteca, teaching home economics. During WWII she married Richard Campodonico and in the ensuing years raised their 6 children. Edythe was a wife, mother, artist, teacher, world traveler, flirt, and a lover of life to the end. Her strong spirit lives on in those who knew her.
