Frank Derfield Sr.
Frank Edward Derfield Sr. passed away suddenly on October 13th, 2012. He was 80 years old. He was a thoughtful, generous, and caring man and loved by many. He is survived by his wife, Rita, of 53 years. He is also survived by his sons, Frank and Sean as well as his daughter Renee, along with grandchildren and extended family. He was born and lived in San Francisco until he received his teaching credentials. He moved to South San Francisco where he taught at the high school until he retired. A war veteran from the Korean conflict, he felt conflicts should be solved peacefully and not by war. He was a passionate liberal as demonstrated by his many letters to the editor. He was published in the Sacramento Bee, San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, and San Mateo Times. Three years ago, he and his wife moved to Fair Oaks, CA. Frank's many interests included gardening and stained glass. He was an avid reader and supporter of the libraries. You could usually find him with either a book in his hands or on his computer chatting with his many Facebook friends. He believed in Political Activism and liked a good debate. He believed in the humanity in all of us. His love, caring, and understanding will be missed by all.
The family will be having a private service and request, instead of flowers, a donation be made to St. Anthony's in San Francisco. www.stanthonysf.org/
