Gerald Bruce Fried

August 25, 1934 - April 19, 2014

Jerry was born and raised in San Francisco and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.  Jerry worked for Otis Elevator for 40 years in management and obtained two patents to his name.  Jerry and his late wife, Patricia, moved to San Ramon in 1993.  He was a parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, a docent at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, on the Board of Directors at San Damiano Retreat Center in Danville, a member of SIRS and a devoted supporter of many charities and organizations serving the poor and underprivileged of the Bay Area.  Jerry's hobbies were skiing, biking and golfing.  He loved to travel. 

Jerry's battle with lung cancer ended peacefully surrounded by his fiancée Toni Donnelley and his son Rob (Terryl) Fried, daughters Karen Mason, JoAnn (Mark) Hayden and Laura (Roger) Sitchler.  Jerry had ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia. 

A memorial mass will be said in his honor at 11 AM on Friday, May 23 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 2601 San Ramon Valley Blvd in San Ramon.  A celebration of life reception will be held at San Damiano Retreat Center, 710 Highland Drive, Danville, following the mass at 12:30 PM.
