Juan R. Diaz
Born June 15, 1928, a longtime resident of Pacifica, peacefully passed away in Southern California on January 6, 2014 after a year's struggle with Alzheimer's and lung cancer, at the home of his beloved youngest daughter, Lorrie Cordova. Juan is survived by his wife, Martha, now a resident of Palm Springs, with whom he was married to for over 61 years. Juan also leaves five children: John ("Bebe") Diaz; Frances Diaz; Dolores ("Lola") Martello; Michael Diaz; and Lorrie Cordova. Thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also mourn the loss of their beloved grandpa. Juan is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as his older brother, Jose ("Pepe") Diaz, who resides in Puerto Rico. Juan was a Korean War Veteran who came to the United States from Puerto Rico in 1947. Juan and Martha discovered Pacifica and moved there in 1955. He worked as a Teamster for over 40 years, beginning at Bethlehem Steel Company located in South San Francisco. Juan was an avid sports enthusiast and loved watching his favorite Bay Area teams. He enjoyed a memorable 80th Birthday bash in 2008 with many of his wonderful friends and beloved family. A rosary will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Pacifica on Friday, January 17, 2014 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with funeral mass at St. Peter's the following day, Saturday, January 18 beginning at 11:00 a.m. A reception to follow at the Firehouse in Pedro Point.
