November 21, 1923 - July 28, 2014Lloyd John Sugaski died of complications of cancer at home on July 28th, 2014, at the age of 90. He was born and raised in Elyria, Ohio, where he enjoyed nature and building his own canoe. He joined the Navy when he was 17, served 4 years, and was in officer training school when WWW II ended in 1945. With the help of the G.I. bill, four years later, Lloyd had not only completed his BA degree from U of Colorado, Boulder, but also his MBA at Wharton School of Business, 1949. He later attended Harvard University's Advanced Management Program, while working for the Bank of America. Lloyd retired as an Executive Vice President and member of the managing committee after his 37 year career with the bank.
Lloyd traveled the world extensively including jaunts to Fiji where he danced with the locals, and Antarctica where he swam with the penguins. His boyhood love of nature followed him and he became an avid backpacker, fisherman and sailor. He also had a love for reading and the arts.
He was preceded in death by his college sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Susan Whalen. He was fortunate to find love again and remarried Gabriela Bueno in 2007. In addition to his wife, Gabriela, Lloyd is survived by his sister, Marian Straka, his brother, Don Sugaski, four children, Cathi Giberson (Ken), Mike Sugaski (Brita), Kevin Sugaski and Mary Susan Allred (Ken), 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
