Lyle Dee Schneider, loving father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the age of 80. He enjoyed good health throughout his life and was actively engaged with travel, work, family and friends until his very last breath. He split his time living in several locations: San Francisco, Seattle, Palm Desert and Phoenix.|
Lyle was born in Los Angeles, California on October 22, 1932 to Rose and Dallas Schneider. He graduated from El Segundo High School in 1950 and earned a business degree from Utah State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He also served in the U.S. Army during the final years of the Korean War.
Lyle spent a lifetime creating a successful real estate development company, L.D. Schneider and Associates, operating in California, Washington, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. He felt blessed to have his son, Kurt, working by his side for the last 30 years. Lyle often expressed to others that working with Kurt was a great joy in his life.
Lyle enjoyed international travel, wine collecting, reading, and eating at fine restaurants. He was truly an authority on where in the world to have a fabulous dinner. Lyle recently celebrated his 80th birthday during a weekend reunion in San Francisco, accompanied by family and close friends. He was blessed in his life to have so many people who loved and cared about him.
Lyle is survived by his devoted son Kurt Schneider, his loving daughters Leisa Schneider Zarian (John) and Jill Schneider Wehrly (Mark); his grandchildren, Justin (22), Michael (20) and Christina (17) Zarian; and Alaina (11), Mason (9) and Zack (6) Wehrly. He is also survived by his beloved sister LaRae Monson (Bob) and his former wife and good friend JoeAnn Schneider. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Max Schneider.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 West South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 S), South Jordan, Utah, with a viewing from 2-2:45 p.m. Interment will be at 12:00 p.m. the following day, Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Hyrum Cemetery, 550 East Main Street, Hyrum, Utah.
