Marv Neil Blackshaw
February 25, 1948 - April 20, 2014
Marv Blackshaw, Principal of Marv Blackshaw & Associates, passed away on April 20, 2014, after a valiant battle against brain cancer. Born in Tacoma, WA, he graduated from Lincoln HS in 1966, and received a BA in Psychology from the University of Washington. For over 30 years, Marv ran his own multi-line hospitality vendor company in the San Francisco Bay Area, calling on hospitality designers, architects and purchasing agents. Many of his colleagues were also his friends. He was referred to variously by his friends as "Marvelous", "Old Blue Eyes" or, "The Silver Fox". His favorite pastimes were spending time with friends, playing the keyboards (he was self-taught), cooking, winetasting, and the occasional golf game. Marv was a kind and gentle man. He was pretty darned funny… and a damned good cook! He will be sorely missed by many.
He is survived by sisters Corrine Waterman and Arlene Abrams, niece Heidi, nephew Larry, assorted cousins, surrogate daughter Heather Wright Tenore, and longtime partner Diane Nicolson. Memorial celebration TBA.
Donations can be made in his name to UCSF Neuro-Oncology Research Center, or the Brain Injury Network of the Bay Area.
