Milagros Doherty Obituary
Milagros Reyes Saquing Doherty

A Tribute to My Beautiful, Loving Mother…

April 11, 2014 at 6:57 am, Peninsula Hospital, Burlingame- a very special woman has passed away peacefully with her daughter Jojo, sister Shirley, and more importantly with God beside her. Rest in peace, mommy, Milagros Reyes Saquing-Doherty! Mom has finally given up her 7 yrs 4 months battle against all odds.

My Mommy was born Milagros Reyes second of eight children born to the late Judge Isabelo G. Reyes and the late school teacher, Maria Mayugba Reyes.  She was a native of Manila, Philippines where she earned her degree in Medicine at the University of Santo Thomas School of Medicine. After immigrating to the United States, she began a career and retired from the Irwin Memorial Bloodbank in San Francisco, California.

Mila was a devout Catholic with Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina as her favorite saint.  Not only is she a devout Catholic, but she is also a devout mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and a friend not only to humans, but to animals as well.  She was a woman of beauty, grace, kindness, strength, conviction, poise, intelligence and determination among other traits. She so loved her family so much that she fought to the very end to stay with them longer. She is survived by her loving children, Marie Josephine S. Balba (Engelbert Balba), and Marie Jeannette Saquing (Eric Ting); grandson Marc Lawrence Balba; siblings Aurora Agricola, Godo Reyes, Grace Jimenez, Tony Reyes, Shirley Soriano and Manuel Reyes; her second husband, Daniel J. Doherty, and a total of 25 nieces and nephews. Milagros was preceded in death by her first husband, Engr. Alejandro L. Saquing, her third child Marc Anthony, and her sister Luz Mayo.

Mommy, with your passing, I have lost a mentor, confidant, best friend, and a great mother that every daughter would wish she had. I will miss you very much, but you will forever be alive in my heart. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED YOU, MOMMY. You are now without any ailment and in perfect health again. Till we see each other again... Rest in Peace, My Beloved Mommy.  –Jojo
