Paris Enrique Royo M.D, F.A.C.S.

The Honorable Dr. Paris Enrique Royo passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 29, 2012. He was born in Paris, France to Alice and Jorge Tulio Royo while his father served as Consul General and lastly as Ambassador from the Republic of Panama.
He immigrated to the United States in 1938 just before the beginning of World War 2 along with his mother and sister. They settled in Santa Cruz for a few years until his mother moved to San Francisco to work as a cryptographer for the Department of Intelligence for the US Government.
Paris then attended Lincoln High School, and later the City College of San Francisco. On completing two years at City College, he served in the Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he attended University of California, Berkeley, for his Bachelor's and Master's degrees and received his Medical Degree from University of Michigan in 1963. He completed his internship and residency at Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco specializing in Ophthalmology. Over the years he opened offices in Sacramento, Marysville, Elk Grove, Roseville, Fairfield and Vacaville where he became a highly respected and successful Ophthalmologist. He was extremely active with Surgical Eye Expeditions International (SEE International) travelling to many countries around the world to help restore the sight of the less fortunate.
He served as the Honorary Consul of Panama in Sacramento in the 1980s. He also, reactivated with the Military and served several years with the Air Force and retired with the rank of Colonel.
He was preceded in death by by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife Afie, their son Kobe of Granite Bay, his son Paris Royo II (Martha) of Ross, his daughter Michelle Griesa (Eric) of Granite Bay, four grandsons Paris III and Julian Royo and Ryan and Alex Griesa and his adoring sister Virginia Royo-White of Tiburon.
