Patricia Louise Avanessian

June 29, 1938 - January 26, 2014

Patricia Louise Avanessian was born on June 28, 1938 to Ishmael and Lillian Jaramillo in Phoenix Arizona.

Patricia's early years were filled with love and some challenge as the family worked to make ends meet as Ishmael served in the Navy during World War II.  The family moved and grew with the addition of Patricia's sister Veronica.

Early on Patricia took a keen interest in learning.  After graduating from St Mary's Catholic High School, Patricia entered Arizona State

University.  Pursuing her degree in education she graduated and moved to San Francisco to begin her life. It is here she met her husband.

Patricia married George Avanessian on November 29, 1963. That launched a 49-year union based on family and commitment. Together Patricia and George raised 3 children: Stephen, Christine and Mark.  No matter what the circumstances or the challenges, Patricia always provided the family with a warm and welcoming home.    Moving from South San Francisco to Hillsborough in 1986 Patricia and George became fixtures of the Hillsborough/Burlingame community.

Dedicating herself to causes, Patricia was an ardent supporter of the League of Women Voters helping to raise awareness of key issues and encouraging people to register to vote. She also focused on causes that benefited those too young to ask for help and those too frail to understand they may need it.  The Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford was a passion for Patricia where she served on several boards and as the President of the Burlingame Auxiliary.  Pat then dedicated time to Mission Hospice and Homecare where she again served on several boards and as president of the auxiliary. Philanthropy combined with a keen sense of the importance of being involved was a true hallmark of Patricia.

A  loving family survives Patricia including sons Stephen and Mark, daughter Christine, grandsons Steven, Christopher, and George granddaughters Lillian, and Galina son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Chaunise, her sister Veronica Pylman and the family pet, Abby.
