Raymond Billy Tavake

In loving memory of Raymond Billy Tavake ("Big Ray").

Raymond was born August 17, 1955 to Paepaefoa and Pillikaki "Billy" Tavake, in Pago Pago American Samoa.  He and his family emigrated to America in 1959.  Raymond worked in construction and was a gifted musician.  He was a renowned Golden Glove champion boxer and on the 1978 USA Olympic boxing team.  He was beloved and honored father, husband, brother, cousin, son, and uncle.

Raymond was a poet, a painter, a song writer; a mighty warrior of likes rarely seen, a kind and gentle father, a friend to any in need. Ultimately, the legacy of Raymond Billy Tavake is love.  He loved past loving and is adored by all privileged to have known this extraordinary man.

In love, Raymond Billy Tavake has fulfilled the law,

"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." Romans 13:8-10

Raymond is survived by his four beloved sons Raymond, Jr., Raphael, Ruben, and Richard; his faithful wife and love of his life, Tandi Thomas; and siblings Henry, Veronica, Billy, Roy, Lurline, and Apoua "Mary".
