Richard, a 37 year resident of Moraga, Ca, passed away on Jul 5, 2013 in Walnut Creek, Ca when God said it was time. Rich was born to Charles M. and Mary Stefek Pribyl on Dec. 20, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois.

After graduating from Farragut High School, Chicago, Rich was drafted into the Army in March, 1945. To his surprise, and eventual delight, he was assigned to the Horse Cavalry unit at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Rich later was stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky., training in communications. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Communications Chief. The military experience taught him responsibility, discipline and maturity.

He attended the University of Illinois (Chicago) and the Industrial Engineering College of Chicago. Rich worked for the Cory Corp (Chi), Seeburg Corp (Chi) and The Cornelius Company (Anoka, MN) as a sales executive.

In 1948, he married Patricia Anne Moran (Chicago). Rich and Pat moved to Moraga from Naperville, IL in 1976 as they fell "in love" with California on Rich's many business trips to the state. Rich enjoyed the West Coast through his interests in golf, hunting, fishing, photography, nature, back roads travel, and wine tasting. They have 5 children: Richard J. Jr.(Rita), Margaret(Sybil) Miller(David B.), Patricia F., Thomas M.(Eileen Beck), Matthew M.(Laura).Grandchildren are Richard J. III (Rhianna), Rory S.(Sara), Kyle D., Kelli E. Miller; Selena Reif (Erik) and Analia Pribyl. Great grandchildren, Riya Anda and Ronan Pribyl. Sister, Bee Murray(Ken, deceased) Aurora, IL, brother Donald Pribyl(Michaele)Chicago, IL, brother-in-law Donald J. (Rosemarie, deceased) Reinertson, Atlantic, IA and sister-in-law Fran Pribyl, Schaumburg, IL. Rich is also survived by many wonderful and loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He is pre-deceased by his parents and his brothers Charles A. (Vera) and the Rev. Ronald E. (Anne) Pribyl.

Rich was a devoted parishioner of St. Monica Church in Moraga, where he served as a church usher for 25 years. Rich was also an active member of St. Monica Men's Club, St. Monica Seniors and SIR's Branch 171.

Memorial services will be held at St. Monica Church, Moraga, CA at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 26, 2013. A reception will follow in the Peace Room to celebrate Rich's life.
