Thomas F. Meagher

Tom Meagher passed away peacefully July 23, 2013. Tom was born December 2, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the sixth of eight children born to Delia and Michael Meagher.


He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Margaret Mary (Marge). They had five children Monica Chapman (Joe), Thomas (Pattye), Susan Boken (John), and Maureen Del Santo (John). He is predeceased by his son Terrence. Tom had eight grandchildren he adored: Bridget, Maddie, Brendan, Joe, Jack, Connell, Colin and Eryn. He is also survived by his sister Agnes and numerous nieces and nephews.


He graduated from St. John's University in New York in 1953 after which he was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy for three years. After his naval service he joined Price Waterhouse. It was during this time he became a CPA and obtained his MBA from New York University. He joined Bechtel Corporation in 1962 in New York and transferred to San Francisco in 1964. His career with Bechtel spanned thirty one years during which time he held many senior positions in the finance and accounting organization culminating in being named Financial Controller for Bechtel's global business.


He retired from Bechtel in 1993 and spent his retirement enjoying his family, traveling, golfing and gardening. He was a great fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the San Francisco 49ers.


The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers Joey, Anthony and Francisco for all the love and care they provided Tom over the past year.


A funeral mass will be said at Church of the Nativity, Menlo Park, on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11am. A reception will follow at the O'Hare Center. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church of the Nativity, Menlo Park, CA or to the Palo Alto Auxiliary to the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital.
