William T. Iwamoto
William T. "Bill" Iwamoto, age 80, of Brentwood, CA died peacefully on March 8, 2014 at his home with his children by his side. He was born in San Jose, CA on December 5, 1933 to Mr. and Mrs. George Keizo Iwamoto of Monterey, CA. He graduated from Monterey Union High School in 1952, Monterey Peninsula College in 1954, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1956.
Bill grew up during the depression era and at age 8 was sent to internment camps in Salinas, CA, Poston, AZ, and Tule Lake, CA during the second World War. Even after spending four years of his youth in Japanese internment camps, he still valiantly and patriotically served for the U.S. Army from 1956-1958.
Bill married Joy M. Kurotori of Concord, Ca on February 1, 1959 at the Berkeley Methodist United Church. Joy passed away on October 21, 1973 of breast cancer.
Bill worked as a civil engineer for the City of San Francisco, J.H. Pomeroy, Esso, Earl and Wright, Decision Tree Associates and BART. His last engineering project of his career was the completion of the 8.5 mile BART extension to SFO in 2002.
Bill is survived by his two children, Mark and Lisa, his two grandchildren, Jack and Paige, and his trusted, always at his side, dog, "Fluffy". Services and interment will be private.
