SPRINGFIELD, IL - Ben Hagan Poore, 75, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care.

He was born in Hodgenville, Ky., on Feb. 8, 1938, the son of Edmon and Martha Miller Poore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Rubin and Jesse Poore; and sister, Aileen Gotschel.

Mr. Poore is survived by his son, Benny E. Poore of Lexington, Ky.; sisters, Frances Rice of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Mildred (Omer) Finn of Hodgenville, Ky.; several nieces and nephews.

Raised in Kentucky, Mr. Poore has spent the last 30 years in Springfield and surrounding area. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a fuel specialist. Mr. Poore was a truck driver for 20 years for ABF, retiring in October of 2003. He was a member of Teamsters Local 916. As a member of Calvary Temple Christian Center, he was an active volunteer and also assisted with lawn maintenance.

Visitation and Services: 4 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m., Thursday, September 24, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Rte 4., Chatham, with Rev. Randal Ray officiating.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham after the funeral.

Burial: Committal service will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27, with the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors.
