Donald H. Farrow

SPRINGFIELD - Donald H. Farrow, 74, of Springfield, passed away at 11:55p.m, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at St. John's Hospice. He was born September 16, 1938 in White Hall, IL to George R. and Verna F. Bartlett Farrow. He married Sharon Rogan on December 7, 1963 and she survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Kelly (Ken) McCann of Greenview, Sandra (Clifford) Boone of Huntersville, NC and Heather Farrow of Springfield; six grandchildren, Nathan (Kyerstin) McCann, Jessica (Mark) Embree, David and Justine McCann and Nicholas and Emily Boone; two sisters, Linda (Gary) Reif and Carol (Robert) Piper both of Jacksonville; two brothers, George Farrow, Jr. of Eldred and Jerry (Sharyn) Farrow of Poway, CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents preceded him in death.

Don enlisted in the US Army Reserves after graduating from SIU Carbondale with a degree in Agriculture. He worked for Doane AG Services for three and a half years, and then worked for thirty-five years at the First National Bank of Springfield, which is now US Bank. He was President of FFG Agrivest from 1999 until his retirement in March of 2000.

Donald was an active member of Central Baptist Church. He was a Scoutmaster, a member of the Rotary Club of Springfield and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was State President of Illinois Society Farm managers and Rural Appraisers and the Illinois Farm and Land Chapter of Realtors Land Institute.

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.

Lie-in-State: 9-10 am, Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Central Baptist Church.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Central Baptist Church with Reverend Mary Ellen Sharp officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
