George E. Miller
SPRINGFIELD, IL - George E. Miller, 81, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1932, in Jackson, Mich., the son of Vincent and Nona Miller. He married Audrey L. Chilstrom Miller on May 10, 1958, in Milwaukee, Wis. She preceded him in death in 2006.
George was raised in Shorewood, a suburb of Milwaukee, Wis. He attended Shorewood High School where he was President of the Senior Class of 1950 and an all-conference quarterback. He graduated from Northwestern University School of Business Administration. After college he held various managerial positions in manufacturing companies. In 1977 he became Owner and President of Jarmac Inc., which manufactured bench top power tools and accessories here in Springfield.
George had many interests including music, writing music, sports, golfing and teaching. He was a master craftsman who loved woodworking and designing and building furniture.
He is survived by two daughters, Chery Miller (husband, Tom Bundy) of Springfield and Linda (husband, Tom) Tyler of Ouray, Colo.; two sons, Terry (wife, Daphne) Miller of Chatham and Darren Miller of Decatur; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements are under the direction of Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel where friends may greet the family from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be private for the family at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Ill.
