Glena Dean Kilgore
Glena passed away early Monday morning in her home at Bickford Senior Living in St. Charles, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Bryant Kilgore; her mother, Edith Hill Kilgore; her brothers, Carroll and Ronald Kilgore; and her sister, Gladys Linn Kilgore.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sharon Kilgore (Ronald), and her beloved nieces and nephews: Kathy (Todd Prigge), Kim (Andrew MacDonald), Jon Kilgore (Tammy), Jay Kilgore (Susan), William Linn Jr. (Kathy), Karen Paradise, Martin Linn (Sandy), Steve Linn (Jennifer) along with 16 great-nieces and -nephews.
Glena was born and raised in Elgin, Ill., and was a graduate of Elgin High School, Class of 1944.
She received her Bachelors degree from Northern Illinois University and her Masters degree from University of Illinois.
She continued to be an Illini and collegiate sports fan throughout her life.
Glena taught at Glen Ellyn Jr. High, Wheaton High School and Triton College. After teaching, she enjoyed a fulfilling career life in Springfield, Ill., where she retired from the Illinois State Board of Education after 18 years as the Consultant for K-12 Physical Education and Dance Programs.
Glena worked tirelessly as part of a team of P.E. pioneers on the historic Title IX bill; the passing of which gave equality to female student athletes.
Glena actively served in the following organizations:

-National and Illinois Dance Associations
-Illinois Alliance for Arts Education
-Arts for The Disabled
-Co-founded the Illinois High School Dance Festival
Glena will be remembered for her great love of family and friends, tradition, her wonderful culinary skills and passion for entertaining friends, and most of all for her generous heart. We are sure she has already found the ideal antique store in heaven.
