SPRINGFIELD, IL - Harold James LeSeure passed away peacefully on March 14, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on April 19, 1931, in Marshall, Ill., to Caroline Wirth and Harry LeSeure. He married Mary Josephine Hinman on July 16, 1950, in Springfield.
Harold graduated from Springfield High School. He served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1952. He served in the Air National Guard from 1952 to 1954.
Harold worked at Broadwell's Drug Store, Goldblatt's Department Store, Ace Sign Company, and Horace Mann Educators. He retired from Horace Mann in 1991.
Harold loved his wife and family very much. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinal's fan. He was very good with his hands and could fix or repair anything. Harold loved to do woodworking. He loved animals, including his beloved dogs over the years, and he was a caretaker of all the neighborhood birds and squirrels.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bernard, Warren, and Frank LeSeure; and his sisters, Virginia LeSeure Willard and Alice LeSeure Stacy. Also preceding him in death was his beautiful daughter, Sondra; a great-granddaughter, Katelyn; and daughter-in-law, Betty. In September 2013, his beloved dog, Tippy, died and Harold missed him very much.
He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Josephine; his children, Dan (Karen) LeSeure, Sonja (Jim) McGrath, Larry (Anny) LeSeure, Suzette (Curt) Middendorf, Terry (Valarie) LeSeure, and Gary (Pam) LeSeure; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Edith LeSeure Cape and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4–7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
