James Randle Schick

CASTLE ROCK, CO - James Randle Schick, 63, passed away April 5, 2014, in Castle Rock.

He was born to the late Wayne and Louise Shick on Sept. 7, 1950, in Champaign, Ill. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1968, Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois in 1972 with highest distinction in economics, and the University of Illinois School of Law in 1975.

He married Christine H. Gersbaugh in 1976 and they lived in Springfield, Ill., before relocating to Castle Rock, Colo., in 2013.

Randy practiced law as an environmental lawyer for the State of Illinois and in private practice. He was a member of the Illinois Bar Association, was an elected official in multiple roles as Alderman, Tax Collector and Assessor for Woodside Township.

Randy was a past member of Springfield Bible Church. He served as a volunteer at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and the Trails and Rails program.

Randy loved sharing camping trips with his family, participating in his sons' athletic activities and gave so much back to the environment through his love of practicing environmental law. He loved to read and was a great patron of the arts. Randy will be remembered for his rapier wit, his love and care of his family, his deep faith and his dedication to giving back to the community.

Randy is survived by his wife, Christine; sons, James A. Schick (wife, Miranda) of Parker, Colo., and Jon C. Schick (wife, Tiffani) of Denver, Colo. He loved and cherished his three beautiful granddaughters: Abigail, Paige and Rozalinn.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Springfield Bible Church, 2060 Westchester Blvd., Springfield, IL. For those who are able to stay, there will be a luncheon reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
