SPRINGFIELD- Joseph F. Bartletti, Sr., 91, of Springfield, died at 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at St. John's Hospital.
Joseph was born July 6, 1921 in Springfield, the son of Tony and Margaret Butzman Bartletti. He married Jennie A. DeSalle on September 17, 1949 in Springfield. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rita Bartletti; and grandson, Andrew Bartletti.
Joseph was a member of K of C Council 4179, Legion of Mary, American Legion Post 759, and Church of the Little Flower Men's Club. He was an Army Veteran of World War II serving in North Africa and Italy from 1942 until 1945. He was employed with Franklin Life Insurance Company for 30 years and retired as manager of their print shop. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, making numerous fishing trips to Canada and Florida. He spent his later years collecting coins.
He is survived by four sons, Joseph (Virginia) Bartletti of Rochester, Michael (Mary Beth) Bartletti, Robert (Sheila) Bartletti, and Mark (Lori) Bartletti all of Springfield; two daughters, Janet (Ray) Davis and Margie Bartletti, both of Springfield; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Norma Bartletti, of Springfield.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. John Ossola, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
