Lawrence "Larry" Crowley

NORMAL, IL -Lawrence Edmund "Larry" Crowley, 78, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at his home in Normal.

Larry was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Springfield, the son of Michael and Florence Coughlin Crowley. He married Phyllis Perrin on July 6, 1968, in Kewanee; she preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 1990.

Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1958. He raised a daughter who graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Bloomington-Normal and the Elks Lodge in Normal. He was an outdoors man and was affectionately called "Buck Horse" by his family. He enjoyed attending Illini Football games to watch his daughter in the Marching Illini Band.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jeremiah Crowley; and one sister, Kathryn McDow.

He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann (husband, Shawn Patrick) Kirkley of Lodi, Calif.; eight grandchildren: Lawrence Jymard (wife, Maria), Brylen LaMont, Elizabeth Andrell, Nizha Jarene, William Lancen, Malina Celynn, Eva Ramelle and Devya Anni Fluckiger; seven great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Michael (wife, Sharon) Crowley of Chatham, Charles (wife, Janeen) Crowley of Leland Grove, Sue Trello of Riverview, Fla., and Mary Hutchison of Springfield.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Ring celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by Department of Defense and Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
