MT. PULASKI - Marilyn Kay Wilson Hallihan, 78, of Mt. Pulaski, died at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Vanderlieth Living Center.
Marilyn was born July 27, 1935 in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel Clark Tesmer. She married Ronald G. Hallihan on October 31, 1986 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Springfield.
Marilyn was a graduate of St. Teresa High School in Decatur and University of Illinois in Champaign. She was an elementary school teacher having taught at Blessed Sacrament and Cathedral. She had also previously worked at Memorial Medical Center. Marilyn volunteered at Springfield Right to Life, St. Martin DePorres and several other agencies. She enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, reading, dancing, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Kenneth H. Wilson.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Hallihan of Springfield; two sons, Doug (wife, Leticia) Wilson of Austin, TX and Joseph (wife, Gina) Wilson of Saudi Arabia; two daughters, Mary (husband, James) Gott of Spaulding and Kathleen (husband, Jon) Holcomb of Athens; one step-son, Michael (wife, Suzanne) Hallihan; one step-daughter, Cathy (husband, Ken) Curry of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren; and several cousins.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
