ATHENS, IL - Mary Nickell, 55, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; three daughters: Emily, Katy and Molly Rand; three stepdaughters: Kayla Rankin, Rita and Rachael Nickell; one grandson, Colin Adams; one step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Bazylak; two brothers, Jim (Gwen) Bloms of Wisconsin and John (Wadene) Bloms of Colorado; one sister, Ann (Scott) Korthof of Wisconsin; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Patricia (Rausch) Bloms.
She was born Feb. 28, 1958, in St. Cloud, Minn., and grew up on a dairy farm near Farming, Minn. She married Ron Nickell on June 28, 2003, at their home in rural Athens, Ill.
Mary received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1980, and her second Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Millikin University in 2009 with a 4.0 GPA. She was employed at CMW Associates in Springfield for the past five years. Mary and Ron started the Coyote Run Buffalo Ranch in 2002.
Mary loved to be outdoors doing various activities, such as snow skiing, boating, canoeing, boot hockey, and gardening. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and listening to classic rock and blues. She loved NFL Football and cheering for her Minnesota Vikings.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at the Athens Christian Church from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Athens Christian Church at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
