Milton "Milt" W. Lawler
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Milton "Milt" W. Lawler, 90, of Springfield, Ill., and Ft. Meyers, Fla., died at 10:29 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at St. John's Hospital.
Milt was born July 21, 1923, in Schuyler County, Ill., to Lewis and Mary Lenover Lawler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Myra Jean Ewing; one brother, Ward Lawler; one sister, Olive Wheelhouse; and one grandson, Jacob Lawler-Bartlow.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa A. Lawler, whom he married on July 2, 1964; one son, John W. Lawler of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Jeanne (Jeff) Bartlow of New Port Richey, Fla., and Jane (Rick) Schafer of Aurora, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Karleen (Tom) Murphy and Cheryl Murphy, both of Springfield; one stepson, Michael (Leigh Ann) Powers of Springfield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Milt was a Liability Claims Consultant with Country Companies Insurance and retired after 33 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #32, the TRN Club and the DAV Club Hall Hagler Chapter 15. He was also a member of the Moose Club and St. Joseph the Worker Church in Chatham.
Visitation: Military honors will be conducted by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home, followed by visitation until the time of service.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home, Rev. Dennis Kollross officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
