Pearl Elizabeth "Betty" Baker
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Pearl Elizabeth "Betty" Baker, 77, died at 6:12 a.m., Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at St. John's Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1936, to Floyd and Hazel (Leslie) Pierce, Sr. She married Robert L. Meyer, Sr. in 1952. They divorced and she married Charles E. Baker, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her second husband and daughter, Betty Louise "Billie" Burns.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn (Tito) Escobedo of San Antonio, Texas; three sons: Robert L. (fiancé, Teresa Cummins) Meyer, Jr. of Versailles, Mo., and Ronald D. Baker of Springfield and Jerry; 4 stepchildren: Judy (Ed) Estell, Charles (Kathy) Baker, John (Vicky) Baker and Cheryl (Robert) Kruger; one grandchild, Jessica (Richard) Davis; four step grandchildren: Jennifer and Jaclyn Krueger, Jason (Kimberly) Baker, and Shayne (companion, Amanda) Baker; two great-grandchildren, Richard Davis, Jr. and Jarrin Davis; one step great-grandchild, Stormy Baker; one sister, Patricia Ann (Max) Beasley of Indiana; one brother, Floyd E. (Helen) Pierce, Jr. of Springfield; several uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pearl was of the Baptist faith. She was a former member of the Eagles Club. She was a member of the Women's VFW Auxiliary in Gillespie. She enjoyed bowling and Wii bowling. She enjoyed miscellaneous handcrafts and needlework. She was born and raised in Springfield and lived for a time in Gillespie. She was employed at the St. Nick, Fleetwood, John's Lounge and King Pin Bowling Alley.
The family will host a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Grace Bible Chapel, 3335 Woodhaven Dr., Springfield, IL.
Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
