ATHENS, IL - Raymond Hamilton, 67, passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at his home in Athens.
He is survived by his children: Misty Hamilton of Texas, Amy (Steve) Livingston of Springfield, Raymond Hamilton II of Sherman, and Kati Hamilton of Athens; sisters, Rose Hamilton Leamon, and Betty (Jim) Hamilton Jenning of Athens; brother, George Hamilton; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ray Hamilton, and his mother, Mildred Adams; and a sister, Darlene Richardson.
He was born Sept. 25, 1946, in Springfield.
He was a member of the VFW and a Purple Heart recipient along with many other awards for his service in the U.S. Marine Corp.
He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends daily, mushroom hunting, watching wildlife, and loved his grandchildren dearly.
He was the friendliest, most generous, and all around great guy!
He was loved by all and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
Funeral services will be held at Noon, Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, also at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
