Robert K. "Bob" Carter

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Robert K. "Bob" Carter, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 7:51 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, in Springfield.

Bob was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Leitchfield, Ky., the son of Claude G. and Oma Hodges Carter. He married Joan Sanner on Sept. 28, 2006.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Calvary Temple Christian Center since 1982. He had owned and operated Carter's Restaurant Repair since 1970.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Claudia Morales.

He is survived by his wife, Joan M. Carter of Springfield; his son, James Robert Carter of Springfield; two daughters, Kelly Jean Carter and Stephanie Vass, both of Springfield; two step-daughters, Michelle Loseman of Missouri and Lisa (husband, Kevin) Graham of Springfield; five grandchildren, Noah Carter Crenshaw, Elise Vass, Keim Carter, and Matthew and Nathan Graham; one brother, Clarence (wife, Mary) Carter of CA; two sisters, Helen (husband, Ernest) Downey of Jacksonville and Clydia Frances Carter of Springfield; one great-grandchild, Carter Vass, and one great-grandson on the way; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.

Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and Macon County Honor Guard.
