Ross LaRue Earles

SPRINGFIELD - Ross LaRue Earles, 88, of Springfield, died at 1:48 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at his companion's home. He was born January 13, 1925, in Springfield, IL, to Howard and Phoebe Ross Earles. He married Betty J. Taylor on May 4, 1963; and she preceded him in death on July 6, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, H. Wayne; sister, Peggy; and stepson-in-law, John Kearney.

Survivors include his companion, Juanita Fraizer Hall of Pawnee; nephews, Gary (Pat) Earles of Tolono, IL, and David (Cinda) Earles of Mechanicsburg; niece, Gail (Dale) White of Niantic; seven great-neph-ews; two great-nieces; eleven great-great-neph-ews and seven-great-great nieces; brother-in-law, Jerry Hayes of Green Valley, AZ; sister-in-law, Roxella Earles of Dawson; two stepdaughters, Karen (David) Schinneer of Springfield and Kathy Kearney of Money, MS; one stepgranddaughter, Whitney (Alston) Avritt of Tennesee; one step great-grandson, Brewer Avritt and several cousins.

Ross was a member of Carlock Masonic Lodge #904 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Springfield, ANSAR Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Jesters Court 20, Telephone Pioneers of America, New Salem Shrine Club and Springfield Elks Lodge #158. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII. Mr. Earles retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company after 41 years of service.

Visitation: 4 - 7 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 6:45 p.m.

Funeral Service: 10 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Koschmann officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63131-3597
