Urban D. MILLER Obituary

Urban D. "Dusty" Miller

Urban D. "Dusty" Miller, 79, formerly of Springfield Illinois, passed away on July 5, 2013 in Osprey, Florida. Born on a hot summer day in Decatur, IL on August 12, 1933 to parents Urban D. and M. Mabel Herron Miller.

As a young man, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from ABF Freight Systems in 1997.

He served proudly as member and past master of Cass Masonic Lodge 23, Beardstown, IL; a member of the Scottish Rite; a Shriner with the Ansar Shrine Temple in Springfield, IL; a member of the American Legion Post 32 in Springfield, IL; and was once a member of the Elks.

He is survived by his devoted wife Lewann G. Miller; loved eternally by his children and grandchildren, son Terry D. Bridges of Maroa, IL; two daughters, Pauline Miller of Atlanta, GA and Becky (Jim) Schlouch of Springfield, IL; 3 grandchildren Sam, Ben and Kate Schlouch. His family includes his wife's children, Ken (Deb) Easton, Kevin (Lori) Easton, Karen (Ed) Ferguson.

Dusty had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed music, singing and playing the trumpet. He loved going to the Sarasota and Sailors Circus and enjoyed learning about backstage circus life.

Masonic services will be conducted by Springfield Lodge No. 4, AF & AM at 11:00am on Friday July 12, 2013 at Oak Ridge Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dusty Miller's name to the Shiners Hospitals for Children or to the Sailors Circus in Sarasota, Florida, a performing arts and skill program for students in a circus atmosphere. Bisch and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
