"Bill" Mueller

BEARDSTOWN - William E. "Bill" Mueller, 85, of Beardstown, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born November 21, 1927, in Pana, the son of William P. and Elsa A. Schloz Mueller. He married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Krems on August 27, 1950, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown and she preceded him in death on November 19, 2007.

Surviving are his children, Paul (wife Penny) Mueller and Carol (husband Larry) Cummings, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Sarah (husband Jim) Johnson, Aaron Cummings, and Rob Mueller; 2 great- grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Hollis; three step-great-grandchildren Cole, Taylor and Clay; and his special friend Iva Stock of Beardstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Bill graduated Beardstown High School in the class of 1945. He joined the U.S. Army from 1946-1948 and then graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from CIPS in 1989 after 37 years of service. He currently worked at Benton Associates in Jacksonville. Bill was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown where he had previously served as Church Council President. He was also a member and former Exalted Ruler of BPOE Elks Lodge #1007 in Beardstown and current president of Beardstown Sanitary District. Bill enjoyed golfing and building model airplanes.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2013, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Burial will be in Oetgen Cemetery near Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown.

Memorials have been suggested to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown.
