William M. "Bill" Butcher

PAXTON - William M. "Bill" Butcher, 49, of Paxton, went to be with our Lord at 12:38 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at his home.

Bill was born June 29, 1963, in Springfield, the son of William E. and Yvonne James Butcher. He married Paula Sarnecki on September 23, 2003 in Urbana.

Bill was a 1981 graduate of Griffin High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 1985. He was a standout football player at Griffin and walked-on to the University of Illinois football team to the pride of his parents. After college graduation, Bill proudly served his country as a 1st Lt. in the United States Marine Corps. Bill loved weightlifting over the years and competed in many body building competitions.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, August and Irene Butcher and Irene Britt.

He is survived by his wife, Paula of Paxton; mother, Yvonne Butcher of Springfield; four sisters: Barrie (Brian) Blough of Rochester, Tracie (Gregg) Lowis of Springfield, Lorrie (Dr. Roger Brown) Brown of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Ellie (Todd) Lawrence of Springfield; an uncle, Augie (Josie) Butcher of Springfield; several nieces and nephews: Josh (Casey) Blough, Nicholas and Christian Blough, Maria, Nate, Anna, and Sofia Lowis, Allison Brown, and Michael and Madlyn Lawrence; and many cousins and second cousins.

Private family ceremonies will be held.
