LIGHTBODY, Arthur William of Spring Hill and formerly of Jacksonville, and Portsmouth, VA died on May 3, 2013. He was born April 28, 1923 in Macon, GA and grew up in Jacksonville. As a young man he traveled to Portsmouth to work for the Seaboard RR car shop before he was drafted into the U.S. Army. During WWII, he saw action in France and Germany. He was awarded three bronze stars and in only two and one half years he was promoted to Master Sergeant on the battlefield. He separated from the Army on April 28, 1946. He went back to work for Seaboard RR and earned his Carman Apprenticeship. After retiring from the railroad, "Bill" moved to Spring Hill with his wife in Dec. of 1987. He was a dedicated Servant of the Lord all his life and performed many duties for the church wherever he lived. He was a kind and gentle man who will be terribly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Sally Lightbody; his three brothers, Frank (Ruby) Lightbody, Lawrence (Dorothy) Lightbody, Albert (Violet) Lightbody and sister, Maxine Lovelady. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jean Owens Lightbody and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many dear friends, neighbors and caregivers who became his dear friends and companions. He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church of Spring Hill where the funeral will be held at 2 pm on May 8, 2013. Merritt Funeral Home of Spring Hill will make local arrangements.
