JONES, C. Robert "Bob" 75, of Brandon, passed away on Dec. 21, 2012, after a valiant struggle with leukemia. He was born in Ft. Myers and his parents moved to Tampa when he was 2 years old. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Douglas) Jones; two sons, Robert Carlton Jones (Leah) and Ronald Douglas Jones (Paige); two grandsons, Rick Jones (Corrie) and Ryan Jones; a brother, C. James Jones (Trudy); a brother-in-law, Gilbert Douglas (Alice); a sister-in-law, Libby Elliott (Jim). Bob was predeceased by two brothers, Bill Jones (Caroline) and Hollis Jones (Elizabeth). Bob was a graduate of Jefferson High School and after graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and was sent for training at the U.S. Navy Dental School in Great Lakes, IL. Thereafter, he was stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, FL, as a dental technician. He attended the University of Tampa on a football scholarship. Afterwards he joined the City of Tampa Fire Department where he retired after 22 years with the department. In addition to his full time job as a firefighter, Bob was a state licensed builder of both residential and commercial properties under the name of C. Robert Jones Construction, Inc. It was Bob's request that there be no funeral, however, he wanted his friends and family to have a party in celebration of his life. These plans will be announced later.
