WADDELL, Charles Everett age 94, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 peacefully at his home. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, from an old Virginia family and served in WWII as a fighter pilot in the European theater. During his service in the military, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with Clusters, and the Presidential Citation with three Clusters. Charlie held degrees from Vanderbilt University & Princeton University. He moved to Clearwater in 1965 with Combustion Engineering as a sales engineer and was involved in the early stages of nuclear power for electrical systems and utilities. Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man. He is survived by Carole, his loving wife of 56 years; three children, Susan (Kevin), Mark (Kathi), & Scott; and two grandchildren, Hunter and Kerry. The family will receive friends for a visitation and gathering Saturday, March 2nd, 1-3 pm, at the Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home.
