GALLAGHER, Charles J. "Chuck", died Nov. 26, 2013, in Brandon. He was born in Lynn, MA, in 1923. Chuck attended schools in Littleton and Bethlehem, NH. He graduated from Central Catholic in Lawr-ence, MA. During WWII, Chuck served in the 351St Anti-Tank Company of the 88th Division in Italy. Chuck was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945 from service related injuries. He was a police officer for 40 years serving 3 years in New Hampshire and 37 years in Madeira Beach, retiring as Chief of Police. Received numerous awards, included Outstanding Police Officer from Optimists Club, Boss of the Year - Holiday Isles Jaycees, Citizen of the Year - Madeira Beach Commission, Outstanding Officer from American Legion and V.F.W. and Mr. Safety Award from the National Safety Council. He designed the original seal for Madeira Beach. He served as President of the Madeira Beach Friends of the Library and Recording Secretary for Pinellas County Police Standards Council. He was a Rotarian and the past president of that Club. Survivors include his son, Chuck Gallagher and his wife, Sharon; his daughter, Ann Ottinger and her husband, Terry; his granddaughter, Jackie Peck and her husband, Mike; and two great-grandsons, Austin & Brayden. The Funeral services will be private.
