SABBIDES, Charles 89, of Clearwater passed away July 24, 2014. Born in Lowell, MA to Menelaos and Helen Stylianou on July 20, 1925. Charles was the youngest of four children. Charles and his family moved to Florida in 1958 from Springfield, MA. Predeceased by wife, Evelyn and sons, Gary and Glen Sabbides. Survived by daughter, Charlyn (Don) Gibson, Pinellas Park; sons, Rick (Kathy), Largo, Thomas (Sybille), Gulfport, MS, Charles (Shirley), Bushnell, FL, and Terry Sabbides of Clearwater; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 3 stepgrandchildren; 5 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Charles was a proud WWII veteran who served his country in the United States Coast Guard. From 1942-1945 he proudly served aboard the U.S.C.G. Cutter Tampa as part of the Greenland Patrol where death (which often came to pass) was a constant threat at the hands of German U-Boats. Charles was a wonderful, compassionate and kind man who will be missed deeply by his family as well as those who knew him. Dad, we love you so very much and one day we will all be together again. We will love and miss you as we look forward to that glorious day, Daddy. Family will receive friends at 11am Thursday, July, 31, 2014 at Hubbell Funeral Home. The service will follow at 1pm.
